Frances Ellen Darling

Frances Ellen Darling, age 71 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away at home on Thursday, January 2, 2020.  The daughter of Richard and Lois Butler Creagh was born in Tacoma, WA on March 16, 1948.

Frances married James Darling in Bremerton, WA on January 12, 1968 and they were sealed for all time and eternity in the Laie Hawaii Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on March 25, 1970.

Frances was lovingly known as Nana to most.  It was a fitting name for someone who loved to take care of others.  Whether tending to her 7 children and 34 grandchildren, teaching children at church, taking meals to others, or making napkins and pillow cases as gifts, she was devoted to a life of serving others.  The only thing that rivaled her love for serving was her love for running her gift shop in Alaska.  She loved beautiful things, especially if they included flowers, and opened her boxes of inventory like a little kid on Christmas.

Nana was also a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ.  One of her favorite quotes was “No obstacles are insurmountable when God commands and we obey.” (Heber J Grant)  We are grateful for the legacy she left behind by living a life of faith, giving countless hours of Christ-like service and giving life and nurturing to those in her care. Frances will be deeply and sincerely missed by all, but we can find peace in our hearts knowing the plan of salvation is real and that she is enjoying the loving light of Christ.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Jim; her children Anthony (Gusti) Darling of West Jordan, UT, Jennifer Darling of Batesville, IN, Stephen (Elizabeth) Darling of LaCenter, WA, Seth (Jenny) Darling of Petersburg, PA, Joshua (Natalie) Darling of Murray, UT, Amy Tiare of Batesville, IN, and Katie (Adam) Halverson of Greenwood, IN; her 34 grandchildren; and her brother Richard (Patti) Creagh of Spokane, WA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Karen Necessary, and her brother Steven Creagh.

Visitation will be Monday, January 6, 2020 from 12:45pm -1:45pm followed by 2:00pm funeral service all at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Batesville Ward.  Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery, Crossroads in Batesville.  Online condolences www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
