(New Castle, IN) – New Castle Democrat and former Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick has announced she is running for Governor in 2024.

McCormick released a video announcing her candidacy.

In it, she spoke about how she pushed back against Republican state leaders when she was superintendent.

She served in that position from 2017 until 2021.

McCormick was a member of the GOP at the time but switched to the Democratic Party in June 2021.

She joins three Republicans and a Libertarian in the race to succeed the term-limited Eric Holcomb.

U.S. Senator Mike Braun, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, and Fort Wayne businessman Eric Doden have announced on the GOP side, while Libertarian Donald Rainwater is in the gubernatorial race for a second time.
