(Aurora, IN) – The former treasurer of the Aurora Farmers Fair is accused of making multiple unauthorized purchases since 2022 with farmers fair funds.
Indiana State Police say 54-year-old Scott Petty of Moores Hill turned himself in to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on Monday.
Detectives from the ISP Versailles Post began the investigation last month after the fair board reported money missing from the Aurora Farmers Fair’s accounts.
Investigators believe Petty used the Farmers Fair credit card and bank account to pay for personal vacations, bills, car payments and other items.
In total, ISP says Petty spent more than $70,000 of the fair’s money.
He was charged with one felony count of Theft (Over $50,000 – Level 5 Felony), and is jailed pending an initial court appearance.
