(Southeastern IN) – Ripley and Franklin counties were placed under Yellow Travel Advisories after flash flooding caused road closures throughout both areas.
The Whitewater River was expected to crest above the 17-foot flood stage around 22 feet. As a result, evacuations of low-lying areas such as Metamora and Cedar Grove were taking place Wednesday afternoon.
You’re reminded that if you come upon high water while driving, to use an alternate route, and to “Turn around, don’t drown.”
All of the low water crossings or slabs in Franklin County were closed this morning because of flooding.
The City of Greensburg is advising motorists of high water in the community caused by the heavy rainfall.
Franklin County and Sunman-Dearborn schools closed today; many others around the area started on a two-hour delay because of flooding and road closures caused by downed trees and power lines.
