Fleeing subject wanted on warrants apprehended by Deputies in Spencer Township

North Vernon, IN—Recently the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office received information that a subject wanted on felony warrants was at a location on County Road 900 West in Spencer Township.

The subject, Boyd Barrett Jr, had an active arrest warrant through Jennings County for Probation Violation: Resisting Law Enforcement-Forcibly Resisting. Barrett also had an active arrest warrant through Jackson County for Failure to Appear: Felon carrying a handgun with a prior conviction, Resisting Law Enforcement with a vehicle, Unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, Resisting Law Enforcement by Force, Driving while suspended-prior and Reckless driving.

Jennings County Sheriff Deputies, as well as an Indiana State Police Trooper, arrived at the location where Barrett was reported to be.  After arriving, Barrett fled from Officers on foot. The Officers pursued Barrett through a wooded area south of the location until they were able to chase down Barrett where he was apprehended.

During the foot pursuit,  the Trooper sustained minor injuries. Barrett acknowledged that he ran because of the outstanding warrants. Boyd Barrett Jr, in addition to the outstanding warrants, was charged with an allegation of Resisting Law Enforcement-Causing Injury.
