Batesville, IN — Batesville City Council’s At-Large member has stepped down.

Bill Flannery read the following statement toward the end of this week’s City Council meeting.

“I would like to begin by saying that it has been a great privilege to serve on this council for the past three years.

“I would also like to thank the citizens of Batesville who gave me the great opportunity to serve them as Council-At-Large.

“Ginger and I have purchased a home in Florida and will be spending part of the year as snowbirds. So I feel it’s only fair to the City of Batesville and the residents that I resign.

“My party will caucus and appoint my replacement.”

There’s no indication when the local Republican Party will meet to go through that process.

Flannery’s resignation was effective Monday night.
