First Street to require additional work before paving

Greensburg, IN —At Monday evening’s Greensburg City Council meeting, Street Commissioner Mark Klosterkemper approached the Council for an additional appropriation for street repairs on West First Street. The Frist Street repaving project was on the list of streets that would get work under the community crossings matching grant program, but when contractors went to grind the street down, the condition of the pavement was worse than expected. Mayor Josh Marsh stated that the conditions under the road turned out to be disintegrated concrete and additional work would have to be made to correctly fix the street.
An additional $55,000 was approved for use to fix the under layer of the street and finish pavement. The project is expected to be completed in the next 30-60 days.
