First step complete for Fire Academy Funding

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. —  The House Committee on Veterans Affairs and Public Safety approved State Representative Randy Frye’s (R-Greensburg) proposal that would provide funding for the Indiana Fire Academy.

According to Frye, the Indiana Fire Academy operates based on a ‘spoke and wheel’ management style with a central location branching out to regional facilities, which can be used by all Hoosier firefighters and first responders to host classes and training.

Frye said the academy will also offer training in water rescue, hazmat emergencies, low and high angle rescue and vehicle crash site rescue.

Frye’s proposal, House Bill 1309, heads to the House Committee on Ways and Means for further consideration.
