First Franklin County jury trial since start of pandemic results in conviction

Brookville, IN — The first jury trial in Franklin County since public health restrictions were put in place in March 2020 has resulted in the conviction of a Laurel man on a felony count. Jurors deliberated for a brief time before finding 61-year-old Phillip Richardson guilty of Possession of Methamphetamine, which is a Level 6 Felony. The charge stemmed from a December 22, 2018 traffic stop in which a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy recovered nearly a half gram of Meth. Franklin County Circuit Court Judge Clay Kellerman scheduled sentencing for May 18. Richardson faces six to 30 months in prison.
