(Versailles, IN) – Rescue crews were called to the horse trail at Versailles State Park on Saturday to assist with the extrication of a patient.

Versailles firefighters used the department’s new Mule Rescue Device (pictured) during the operation.

Officials say the equipment enhances rescue operations at the park’s trails – many of which cannot be reached by ATV.

Also on the scene were Ripley County EMS and the Versailles State Park Manager.

The department is thanking Milan American Legion Post #235 and the Southeastern Indiana REMC Operation Roundup grant program for their assistance in funding the purchase of the device.
