Firefighters save dog from icy Flat Rock River near St. Paul

St. Paul, In. – Members of the Greensburg Fire Department saved a family pet from the frozen waters of the Flat Rock River on Thursday near St. Paul.

Reports indicate the owner told first responders the dog was stuck about 75 feet away from the bank off County Road 400 West. Two firefighters, clad in ice rescue suits managed to get the dog back to the shore and ultimately to the owner.

The pet owner called the Adams Township Fire Department first, they notified Greensburg because they had the proper equipment. The Indiana Department of Natural resources was also on the scene.
