(Indianapolis, IN) – FEMA is advising Hoosiers who were affected by the severe weather and flooding in August and have applied for assistance to “read your letter carefully.”
Impacted Hoosiers will receive a letter from FEMA either by mail or email.
It will include the amount of money FEMA may provide and information on the appropriate use of that money.
The letter will also explain your application status and advise what you need to do to appeal if you disagree with the decision.
If the letter says you are “not approved” for assistance, it does not mean that you won’t receive assistance.
You may need to send additional information or supporting documentation for FEMA to continue reviewing your application for financial aid.
Applicants who disagree with a decision have 60 days from the date of their letter to file an appeal.
Details on uploading supporting documents or locating in-person assistance can be found online at DisasterAssistance.gov.
