FCHD updates on COVID-19 statistics

Brookville, IN—The Franklin County Health Department announced on Friday that there have been 70 new COVID-19 cases reported in July. That brings the county total to 194 since mid-March. Health Officials were notified of the ninth COVID-19 related death, a male in his 80s. “The Health Department would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased”, says Angie Ruther RN. A tenth COVID-19 related death occurred over the weekend.  
Health officials also announced that a total of 139 patients have recovered from the Coronavirus while approximately 46 are being actively monitored which includes 16 patients who are currently hospitalized. No further information about the patients will be released due to privacy laws.
Franklin County Health officials would like to remind citizens that COVID-19 is still prevalent in our county and precautions still need to be taken. If you are around people who are not part of your immediate household, maintain 6 feet social distancing. Please wash hands frequently or use hand sanitizer. It is important to disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as counters, computers, door handles, bathrooms, and refrigerator handles.
