FC Library Summer Reading Kicking Off

(Franklin County, IN) – The Franklin County Public Library District’s Summer Reading Program (SRP) begins on June 22 and runs through August 1.

This year’s theme is “Unearth A Story.”

The library is kicking off SRP sign-up day with Freddy Fossil’s Dino Show.

Organizers say the legendary paleontologist Freddy Fossil will lead you, “…on an exciting adventure where you can meet life-sized dinosaurs that will leave you in awe.”

This interactive show blends the marvels of the ancient world with scientific principles.

It’s a chance for you to immerse yourself in the magic of our prehistoric past in a way that’s both fun and educational, according to library officials.

Freddy Fossil will be at both libraries on June 22: Brookville at 10 a.m., and Laurel at 5 p.m.

Summer reading is free and open to all ages.

You do not need to be a Franklin County resident or have a library card to participate in the reading challenge or any of their programs.

When you sign up, you will receive a reading log to track your progress.

Every 250 minutes you read will earn you a prize and four door prize tickets.

This year’s door prizes include books, toys, games, tickets to the Cincinnati Zoo, passes for skiing and tubing at Perfect North Slopes this winter, Kings Island tickets, and much more.

Follow the library’s Facebook page to stay up-to-date with all of the free programs and events the Brookville and Laurel locations are offering this summer.
