UPDATE 7:00 PM — The fatal accident that closed State Road 56 south of Rising Sun claimed the life of a Milan High School Student.
According to the Indiana State Police, a truck being driven by Dylan K Levi, 16, of Rising Sun, was traveling southbound on State Road 56, about 1 mile south of Rising Sun.
For an unknown reason, Levi’s vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of a car driven by Micayla D Acra, 17, of Milan.
The vehicles collided head on at that location.
Acra, a Senior at Milan High School, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ohio County Coroner’s Office.
Levi, a student at Rising Sun High School, sustained minor injuries in the collision.
Police are still investigating the cause of the collision, but say that the roadways being wet could have been a contributing factor in the crash.
Levi submitted to a drug and alcohol test, but use is not suspected.
State Road 56 was closed for around 3.5 hours for investigation and cleanup.

One person was killed in the accident, but names have not yet been released.
