Farmers Feeding the Flock raises record amount for Greensburg Bread of Life

(Greensburg, IN) – A record $66,613.43 was raised this year by Farmers Feeding the Flock for the Greensburg Community Bread of Life.

The announcement was made during the organization’s harvest celebration dinner Friday evening at Greensburg High School’s Ag Building.

The 30-acre soybean field donated for the fundraiser by Fogg Family Farms just south of Greensburg was planted on April 14 and harvested on October 2.

Event organizer Merrill Smith says the field yielded 72 bushels per acre, and they netted $13.50 a bushel.

The following amounts were raised each of the previous five years:

  • 2018 $25,000
  • 2019 $40,000
  • 2020 $48,000
  • 2021 $57,700
  • 2022 $61,020

With this year’s record amount, Farmers Feeding the Flock has raised a total of $298,333.43 for Greensburg Community Bread of Life in the six years of the program’s existence.
