(Southeastern IN) – Area soldiers will be among fallen service members to be honored this weekend during the 13th annual Ride to Remember.
The motorcycle ride will start Saturday morning at Batesville’s Liberty Park and will end Sunday at Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles.
Sixteen fallen service members will be recognized in ceremonies along the 300-mile-plus route.
Each ceremony will last about 25 minutes and include a plaque, a reading of the service member’s biography including medals and accomplishments, the laying of a rose, and recognition of Gold Star families.
The ride will start Saturday with a ceremony at 8 am at Liberty Park recognizing Army Sgt. Chad Keith of Batesville, who died in July 2003.
Army Private First Class Tony Seig, who fell in September 2006, will be honored at the family home in the Sunman area at 9 Saturday morning.
The two-day event concludes at 5 pm Sunday at Cliff Hill Cemetery at the gravesite of Marine Corporal John C. Bishop, who died in September 2010.
The ceremonies are open to the public and you don’t have to have a motorcycle to participate.
