Exhibitor tests positive for mumps at FFA Convention

Indianapolis, IN—The Indiana State Department of Health and Marion County Public Health Department notified the National FFA Organization that an exhibitor at the 2019 National FFA Convention & Expo tested positive for the mumps.

After consultation with public health officials, FFA determined all convention and expo events could continue as scheduled. While there is a low risk of contracting the mumps, FFA took the appropriate steps to protect the well-being of participants out of an abundance of caution, in partnership with the Indiana State Department of Health and the Marion County Public Health Department.

The Indiana State Department of Health notified the appropriate public health officials in each state and continues to monitor the situation. The worker, who was not present at convention venues or attendee facilities after the diagnosis, exhibited in the FFA Blue Room in the Indiana Convention Center on Oct. 30 and the morning of Oct. 31.
