The Annual Drawdown Fundraiser for the Southeast Indiana Health Center
January 13 @ 3:30 pm - 8:00 pm
The Annual Drawdown Fundraiser for the Southeast Indiana Health Center(SEIHC) will be held on Saturday, January 13, at the Batesville Knights of Columbus. Doors open at 3:30 pm, dinner is served from 5-7 pm, and the event lasts until about 8 pm. A $25 ticket entitles you to a fried chicken dinner, beer, and soft drinks, and the ticket is entered into the drawing for the 30 cash prizes.
The SEIHC free clinic has been in existence for 10 years, serving those in Ripley and Franklin counties who are uninsured or underinsured. Care is provided by local volunteer practitioners, at no charge to patients. Despite better availability of insurance since the Affordable Care Act, many people still fall between the cracks of the system and at least temporarily have nowhere to go for medical care. In the clinic, SEIHC sees acute issues like infections and injuries, and also chronic conditions that have been neglected due to the patient’s inability to afford proper care.
For the past 2 years, SEIHC has attempted to reach parts of Ripley and Franklin counties farther from Batesville by providing an RV mobile unit to take care of Brookville, Laurel, Metamora, Versailles, and Milan.
The Drawdown is their only fundraiser each year, so they depend on the generosity of the community in supporting this event.
