Eunice Virginia Low, 94

Eunice Virginia Low, 94, of Westport, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026, at her residence. She was born on June 20, 1932, in Johnson County, Indiana, the daughter of Edgar and Mable (Hamblen) Mayfield. She was a 1950 graduate of Nineveh High School and attended Franklin College where she played basketball. She resided in the area since 1951 and worked for Federal Mogul for 26 years. She then was a mail carrier for the Westport Post Office for 15 years. Eunice was a member of the Westport Christian Church; North Vernon Eastern Star; Lois Chapter #147 in Greensburg; Hayden Chapter of Eastern Star; DAR in Columbus; played with a bid euchre club weekly; Hi Nabor Home Economics Club of Jackson Township; American Legion Auxiliary in Greensburg and the YMCA. She enjoyed exercising, lifting weights, and walking 2 miles a day. She participated in many 13.1-mile Indy mini marathons. Eunice married Royce Kenneth Low on June 24, 1951, at the Union Christian Church in Johnson County, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Donni Buchanan of Westport, Rhonda Low of Acton and Jonnita (Kenny) McCleary of West Lafayette; sons, Robert (Rebecca) Low of Versailles and Royce “Fred” (Bonnie) Low of Terre Haute; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Royce; daughter, Constance M. “Connie” Stout; son-in-law, Ron Buchanan; sisters, Betty Betts, Irma Glick; brother, Robert William Mayfield and sister-in-law, Alice Low. A time of visitation will be on Tuesday, October 13 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery.
