Ernest Carl Chase, 70, of East Enterprise, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 7th, 2024 at his residence. Ernie was born in Switzerland County, IN on February 21, 1954, a son of the late Kathleen (Bladen) Chase and Paul E. Chase. Ernie grew up in the East Enterprise community and attended school at Allensville and Vevay. He worked as a furnace operator at Anchor Glass in Lawrenceburg, IN., retiring after 48 years of service. Ernie also farmed for many years. He enjoyed doing yard work, mowing, and working on mowers. Ernie is survived by two daughters, Lisa Chase, of Rising Sun, IN, and Jennifer Chase, of Rising Sun, IN. Ernie is also survived by two sisters, Mary Weber, of Aurora, IN, and Ella Chase, of Aberdeen, IN; by three brothers, Raymond Chase, of Aberdeen, IN; Robert Chase, of East Enterprise, IN and Donald Chase (Susie), of Aurora, IN and by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister, Laura Ann Chase, and by brothers, Paul “Punk” Chase, Claude Chase, Jerald “Jerry” Chase, and William “Bill” Chase.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 12th, 2024 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Eldon Fancher officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, March 11th at Markland Funeral. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the family or the American Cancer Society.
