Eric Joseph Meder, 34 years old of Yorkville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 2024. A graduate of Righetti High School in Santa Maria, CA, he played trumpet in the band, following in his father’s footsteps. After graduating high school, Eric joined the United States Army before working at CarMax where he made several great friends and finally landing a job at Givaudan where he was flourishing. Eric was a member of the Miller-York Volunteer Fire Department where he enjoyed the camaraderie and helping with community events such as the annual car show and chicken dinner.
Eric loved to joke around and laugh with others. He enjoyed music and always had a playlist going in the background and would play computer games to zone out. A very literal kind of guy, everything had a place and he wasn’t shy about telling you about it. Extremely independent, Eric was packing his own suitcase at 8 years old for a dad and son day at the Grand Canyon. His love for the outdoors started when he was young and continued to be his solace. He liked to camp at places like Red River Gorge and even did some winter camping in Versailles.
Eric will be deeply missed by his parents Joe and Kathy Brokamp Meder; sister Christina (Christopher) Johnson; nephew Zachary Johnson; and many aunts & uncles. He is preceded in death by grandparents Howard & Shirley Brokamp and Adolph & Margaret Meder.
Services for Eric will be held on Monday, November 4 at the Miller-York Fire Department. A celebration of life will be held from 2:00pm – 4:00 pm with a Fireman’s Last Call and Military Honors beginning at 4:00pm. Memorials can be made to the Miller-York Fire Department. Memorials will be accepted at the service or can be mailed to the funeral home. Family and friends are encouraged to leave condolences at www.andres-wuestefeldfh.com.
