Emmagene L. “Em” Sellers, 94 of Dillsboro passed away January 1, 2017 at the Waters of Dillsboro. Em was born May 5, 1922 at home in Dillsboro the daughter of Louis and Clara (Brandt) Knigga. She married Robert Sellers June 8, 1964 and he preceded her in death August 16, 1984. She was a former employee of Carter’s 5 &10, David Jewitt’s General Store, and had been a caterer for Romana Lanvermeyer. Em was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. She enjoyed working on the family farm, dropping out of school to help. She also took care of her mother and wouldn’t marry until after her mother’s death. In later years, she enjoyed going to Reds games and loved working outside. Although she had no children of her own, she enjoyed them very much.
Em is survived by Niece, Vicki (Doug) Rassi of Jeffersonville, In; great niece Lauren (Matthew) Evanczyk, great nephew Matt (Samara) Rassi, great great nieces and nephews Emma, Jack, Lilly, and Everett, several cousins, and very special friends Daryl and Sherri Cutter and their children Greta, Bryston, and Maggie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, mother-in-law Thelma Sellers and brother Warren Knigga.
Funeral services will be at 2PM Wednesday January 4, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro with Pastor Richard Kolaskey officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery at Dillsboro. Visitation wlll also be Wednesday 12-2PM at the church. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Dillsboro Rescue, Dillsboro Fire Dept. or to the Donor’s Choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeVries Funeral Home of Dillsboro.
