Emily Darlene “Dar” Lewis

Emily Darlene “Dar” Lewis, 71, of Milan passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at High Point Health in Lawrenceburg.  Emily was born Wednesday, April 30, 1947, the daughter of Ivan and Emily (Corson) Bean.  She married Edward Lewis September 11, 1965 and he survives. Emily was a homemaker, member of the Pierceville United Methodist Church, International Yours, Golden Rule Home Ec and the Texas Longhorn Cattle Association. She worked at numerous places: assessor clerk in the Ripley County Court House, beauty school in Indianapolis, IBC in Indianapolis, Hoosier Horseman Western Store, Milan school cafeteria and was a Batesville police department dispatcher. Emily enjoyed longhorn cattle, horses, the great outdoors, going on vacations, horseback riding, mountain riding, cattle drives, snowmobiling through Yellowstone Park, liked to fly in airplanes and helicopters and enjoyed fishing. Emily graduated from Jac-Cen-Del in 1965.

Emily is survived by her husband: Edward Lewis of Milan; son: Jim Lewis of Milan, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Scotty Lewis and two brothers: Donnie and David Bean.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Bible officiating. Burial will follow in New Craven Cemetery, Milan. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 also at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the Pierceville United Methodist Church or to the family to defray funeral expenses.
