(Lawrenceburg, IN) – An election recount in the Dearborn County Commissioner District 1 will take place next week.
Mike Lawrence requested the recount after losing to Jim Thatcher by 28 votes in the May Primary Election.
The tally on Election Night was Thatcher 2,492 votes – or 50% – to 2,464 votes – 49.7% – for Lawrence.
Circuit Judge Aaron Negangard ruled that a public manual recount will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Dearborn County Courthouse.
Recounts are not automatic in the State of Indiana, but one can be requested by a candidate no later than 14 days after the election.
