EF-2 Tornado Hits Hartsville

(Hartsville, IN) – The National Weather Service says a confirmed EF-2 tornado touched down in Hartsville in eastern Bartholomew County just before 9 Wednesday night.

The community is a few miles from the Bartholomew/Decatur County line.

Peak wind speeds were clocked at 112 mph.

The twister brought down metal farm buildings, utility poles, trees and power lines.

People spent Thursday cleaning up from the storm, which lasted 13 minutes.

It started south of Columbus and moved northeast.

No one was hurt, but one man says he barely had time to get his family to safety.
