Edward W. Oehlman, 93, Brookville

Edward Willard Oehlman, age 93, of Brookville, Indiana died peacefully Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio with his family by his side.

Born July 21, 1930 in St. Leon, Indiana he was the son of the late Edward & Elsie (Beneker) Oehlman. On January 1, 1953 he was united in marriage to the former Martha Frances Taylor, and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2021.

Ed & Martha owned & operated Firestone/Brookville Tire Mart in Brookville for many years.

He was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church in Brookville, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion and St. Joseph Post #464 American Legion, he was chairman of the Bicentennial Parade committee; past member of the Brookville Volunteer Fire Department, as well as a past member of the Franklin County Community School Corporation Board of Trustees. Ed & Martha were also founding members of the Metamora Performing Arts; and had been active with the Young Life organization which later became Youth for Christ.
Ed was recognized for his tireless support and dedication to his community as a recipient of the Alfred C. Brown Humanitarian Award presented to him by the Franklin County Community Foundation in 2011.

Survivors include two children, Rhonda Hofer (Junior) of Brookville, Indiana, Keith (Patsy) Oehlman of Guilford, Indiana, eight grandchildren, Dustin Hofer, Brett (Amber) Hofer, Derek (Brandi) Hofer, Brooks (Hannah) Hofer, Amber (Dan) Morris, Laura (Joshua) Shelton, Tyler (Kristina) Oehlman, Sarah (Alex) Robinson; as well as sixteen great-grandchildren, Graham Hofer, Hudson Hofer, Paisley Hofer, Dawson Hofer, Gwen Hofer, Meredith Hofer, Bennet Hofer, Emma Morris, Grace Morris, Amelia Morris, Jack Morris, Rosalie Shelton, Katherine Shelton, Greyson Oehlman, Kellen Oehlman, Clare Oehlman, Oliver Robinson, Archie Robinson; he is also survived by a sister-in-law, Clara Lewis and his brother-in-law, Wm. (Bill) Kallies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, a daughter, Cynthia L. Oehlman who died August 9, 1970, three sisters, Molly Haas, Ruth Utzinger, Matilda Kallies; two brothers, Carl Oehlman and Rudy Oehlman.

Family & friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Brookville United Methodist Church, 150 East 8TH Street, Brookville.

Rev. Steve Rundel will officiate the Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Brookville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion.
