Edward Lee “Ed” Schrichten, 86, of Dillsboro passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Waters of Batesville. Ed was born on Sunday, August 22, 1937, in Cincinnati; son of Charles William and Mildred Josephine (Fohl) Schrichten. Ed proudly served 20 years in the Navy during Korean Wartime and was a member of the Dillsboro American Legion Northcutt Laaker Post #292. He worked for PSI and worked as a real estate agent. Ed married the love of his life, Lorene (Shepherd) Schrichten, on February 28, 1959, and she survives him. Ed enjoyed going hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and antiquing.
Ed will be missed by his wife Lorene Schrichten of Dillsboro; daughters Pam Schrichten of Dillsboro and Melody (Thomas) Schaller of Florida; sister Marlene (Howard) Smith of Harrison; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mildred Schrichten; daughter Cheryl Fishel; and brother Ronald Schrichten.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM, Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Military rites will follow at 2:00 PM provided by the Dillsboro American Legion Northcutt Laaker Post #292. Memorials may be given in honor of Ed to the Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department.
