(St. Leon, IN) – East Central’s Jake Meiners has been named the Indianapolis Colts Coach of the Week.
In a battle of top-ranked teams heard Friday night on the WRBI App, Meiners’ Class 4A Trojans went on the road and defeated Class 5A New Palestine, 14-6.
EC’s win snapped the Dragons’ 29-game winning streak, which began in 2023 and included back-to-back state championships (2024 in Class 4A; 2025 in 5A).
This season marks the 27th year in which the Colts are recognizing outstanding high school football coaches throughout Indiana. Each week following a high school football weekend, one coach will be announced as the honoree.
All high school head coaches in the state are eligible regardless of their school size, league or division.
Coaches are evaluated on various factors including the coach’s impact on the team, school and community, as well as the team’s performance.
The honorees are selected by a panel of football media, former athletic directors and other football representatives from across the state.
At the conclusion of the high school season, each winning coach will receive a $2,000 donation and a commemorative plaque.

The Trojans head to Cincinnati’s Price Hill neighborhood this Friday to take on Ohio powerhouse Elder.
It will be the first of a home-and-home series between the two teams. The Panthers will make the trip to St. Leon next year.
