EC Claims Boys Track Sectional Title

East Central won Thursday’s IHSAA boys track and field sectional at Connersville.

The Trojans finished with 131.2 team points, followed by Richmond at 79.5, and Batesville with 70.25.

Also taking part in the 15-team sectional were Franklin County (32 points) and Oldenburg Academy (24).

The top three team and individual finishers in each event advance to the Regional round.

Sectional champions from BHS were:

  • The 4 x 800m relay team of Cannon Clark, Cash Myers, James Rowland and Griffin Koester (pictured) with a time of 8:22.79.
  • Cannon Clark was also crowned sectional champ after winning the 800m run (2:05.01).

Runners up who automatically advance to the Regional:

  • James Rowland-400m dash (52.00)
  • Griffin Koester-1600m run (4:30.22)-personal best performance
  • 4 x 400m relay team of James Rowland, Cash Myers, Cannon Clark and Griffin Koester (3:32.45)

Finishing third and also qualifying for the Regional round is Camden Kaiser-shot put (48’4″).

Placing fourth, but with one of the next best heights in pole vault was Winston Garrett, who vaulted 12’0″, which qualified for Regional and tied his personal best.

  • Gavin Britch-4 x 400m relay alternate
  • Cannon Clark-800m run, 4 x 800m relay and 4 x 400m relay

  • Levi Essick-4 x 800m relay alternate
  • Winston Garrett-pole vault, 4 x 400m relay alternate
  • Caleb Harmeyer-4 x 800m relay alternate
  • Camden Kaiser-shot put
  • Griffin Koester-1600m run, 4 x 800m relay and 4 x 400m relay
  • Cash Myers-4 x 800m relay and 4 x 400m relay
  • James Rowland-400m dash, 4 x 800m relay and 4 x 400m relay
  • Max Walter-4 x 400m relay alternate
