East Central Takes the Win over Batesville in JV Play

The Batesville Junior Varsity Bulldogs couldn’t keep up with the East Central Junior Varsity Trojans and fell 13-5 on Thursday.

The Trojans jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Ethan Wynn hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.

East Central added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Luke Bovard doubled down the right field line, and Hayden Bear singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Wynn earned the win for the Trojans. The pitcher allowed four hits and four runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking three. William Huber took the loss for Batesville. The hurler went three innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out one and walking one. Brayeden Reis earned the save.

Isaac Lemmel, James Hughes, Preston Blessing, Levi Hunt, and Tiago Batta each drove in one run for the Bulldogs. Hughes went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Batesville in hits.

The Trojans tallied 13 hits in the game. Bovard and Bear each collected three hits for East Central. Bovard and Bear each drove in three runs. Wynn collected two hits in two at bats. Reis and Chase Marsh each stole multiple bases. East Central had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. They stole five bases in the game.
