East Central Football rolls in second half over South Dearborn

The East Central Trojans picked up their fifth win of the season with a 42-7 victory over South Dearborn on Homecoming Night in St. Leon.

According to this report filed by Rob Moorhead, the Trojan’s Eli Aston took the opening kickoff all the way for a touchdown for the second week in a row, this one covering 90 yards, and Sophie Browndyke’s extra point gave EC a 7-0 lead.

South Dearborn answered early in the second quarter on a beautiful 37-yard connection from Adam Kunkel to Reese Willoughby. Taytum Barker added the extra point to tie the game at 7-7.

East Central’s Cole Burton scored on a 1-yard sneak and then later hit Ryan Brotherton with a 9-yard pass to give EC two more touchdowns in the second quarter. Both Sophie Browndyke extra points helped up the Trojans to a 21-7 lead at the half.

The second half was all East Central as the hosts scored three touchdowns including another 1-yard Brotherton sneak following a beautifully executed fake punt by Sam Ringer.  Later, Burton found Aston over the middle for a 68-yard strike, and then Brotherton finished the scoring with a 27-yard scamper into the end zone to start the running clock. Browndyke stayed perfect on extra points to give the Trojans the final victory margin of 42-7.

East Central is 5-1 and will host Connersville October 1 while South Dearborn falls to 4-2 and will take on Franklin County in Aurora the same night.
