East Central FFA teams place in ‘Soils Competition’

Dearborn County, In. — The East Central FFA Chapter sent 12 members to compete in the Area 1 Soils Career Development Event at the Southeast Purdue Ag Center in Butlerville recently.

A total of 23 teams from the area participated in the event. Teams had to use knowledge of soils to judge two home sites and two agriculture sites.

East Central’s top senior team placed 6th with the team of Alex Dudley, Madison Shumate, Amelia Hartman, and Maria Hartman. Our top junior team placed 2nd with the team of Bradley Kolb, Lloyd Darringer, and Isaac Hartman. Bradley Kolb was our top placing individual placing 3rd overall. Both teams have the opportunity to advance to the state competition.
