Earnestine Short, age 83, of Milan, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024. She was born on June 29, 1941, in Premium, Kentucky, the daughter of L.D. Bingham and Ruby Stipe. On September 21, 1957, she married the love of her life, Carnell Short, beginning 64 years of marital bliss.
Earnestine worked for Hillenbrand for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, always ensuring that her family came first in everything she did. She will be dearly missed by her 4 children: son Devon (Betty) Short of Moores Hill, daughter Darlene (Joe) Walter of Osgood, son Robert (Sandy) Short of Batesville, and daughter Paula (David) Hess of Sunman. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Jeremy Short, Christina Johnson, Shawn Short, Shelbie Walter, Travis Walter, Robbie Short, Ashley Pickett, David Hess, Matt Hess, Darren Hess; and 10 great-grandchildren: Kaylee Short, Cory Johnson, Chase Short, Rylee Pickett, Harper Pickett, Dillon Hess, Garet Hess, Grant Hess, Dean Hess, and Lily Hess. Additionally, she leaves behind her 2 brothers: Bob (Barbara) Bingham, Bud (Alma) Bingham, and Kathie Bingham, along with many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law whom she loved very much.
Earnestine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carnell Short; her parents, L.D. Bingham and Ruby Stipe; her son, Randy Short; her granddaughter, Shannon Short; her brothers, Bill Bingham and Bennie Bingham; and her sister, Pauline McQueen.
Earnestine’s love and dedication to her family and her warm presence will be forever remembered by those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by all.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman, Indiana. Funeral service will be at Little Memory Church on Friday at 10 a.m. and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
