Early morning shooting in Taylorsville

Taylorsville, IN — On Wednesday morning at  5:32 a.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Main Street in Taylorsville for a shooting.

On arrival, a male, identified as Justin Black, was located with a bullet wound to his stomach. Black, was transported to an Indianapolis hospital via Lifeline. The suspected shooter was detained and, although several streets were closed, there was no threat to the public.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers wants the public, especially parents of students at Taylorsville Elementary, to know that BCSO was in contact with school SRO’s (School Resource Officers) and school officials at all times during the incident to make sure they were kept informed and knew that it was safe for students to come to school.

The investigation is ongoing.
