E. Mitchell Evans, 83, of Greensburg passed away on February 1, 2020. He was born on October 24, 1936 in Greensburg, the son of Earl and Emma (Hacker) Evans. Mitchell was a 1954 graduate of Greensburg High School. He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958. On April 1, 1960 he married Edith June Collins, and she preceded him in death on August 8, 2005. Mitch was a member of: Union Baptist Church and served as a Deacon, Decatur County Farmers Mutual and served as Past President, Decatur County Realtor’s Association, and the Gideon’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include: Daughter, Barbara (Lloyd) Roberts; Son, Bill Evans; Brother, Randy (Rosalie) Evans; Grandchildren, Elijah Stone, Luke Stone, Jacob (Mallory) Stone, Caleb Stone, Morgan Evans, and Sydney (Rashawn) Dawkins; Great Grandchildren, Bella-Dawn, Ambrosia, Willow, Keley, and two on the way. Mitch was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 10:00 am also at the funeral home. Rev. Steve Bell will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery.
