Doris Jane Douglas, 79, of Batesville passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025. She was born on April 1, 1946 in Batesville as the daughter of Harvey and Viola (Wambsgans) Sarringhaus.
She married Charles Douglas in 1965 and they spent 59 years together before his passing on March 4, 2025. Doris dedicated her life to caring for others, beginning her career as a CNA, where she provided compassionate, hands-on support to those in need. Her passion for caregiving led her to become a QMA, allowing her to expand her skills and continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of her patients. Known for her kindness, dedication, and gentle spirit, she truly loved helping people and brought comfort and dignity to everyone she cared for.
She is survived by her daughters: Teresa Jett and Tami (Eric) Ertel; son, Michael (Bethany) Douglas; step daughters: Sherry Cloud, Sheila Guidi, Angel Dobry; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren, 24 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandchild.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; sister, Marilyn Sarringhaus; granddaughter, Alexa Ertel; daughter-in-law, Tammy Douglas.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 10:00 am with Pastor Martin Bornhoeft officiating. An additional hour of visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service all at Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon.
