Donna S. Siebert

Donna S. Siebert, age 79 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, peacefully with her family by her side.  Born September 24, 1943, in Batesville, she is the daughter of Helen (Nee:  Abplanalp) and Temple Smock.

Donna was the youngest of four children. She grew up in Osgood, IN. As a child, she enjoyed playing with her dolls and going to horse races to watch her dad. Donna had a pet skunk growing up.

Donna married Lloyd Siebert on June 30, 1962. Together, they built a life they loved.

They welcomed their son, Dennis, to complete their family.

Donna owned Batesville Decorator and Colour World in Bright, IN. She had an eye for interior decorating and loved helping others with their homes.

Donna started CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocate in Ripley County. This association supports and promotes court – appointed volunteer advocacy for children. who have experienced abuse and neglect. Donna helped countless children through this and was very passionate about it.

Donna and Lloyd enjoyed traveling in their retirement years. They traveled to all 50 states, except Alaska. They also enjoyed spending time with friends at Delaware Campground. In later years, they spent winters in Florida, enjoying the heat and sunshine.

Donna loved shopping for and collecting antiques. She enjoyed working in her yard. She said mowing was her favorite thing to do. Donna also loved to cook and bake for others. No one would go hungry with her around. Also, Donna was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

For the last 2.5 years, Donna loved her loyal companion, Meeka, a Siberian Husky. She and Meeka enjoyed going for car rides and she cooked Meeka many meals. Meeka was always at her side, right up until the end.

Above all, Donna’s family was her pride and joy. She would have done anything for them. Spending time with her family was her favorite thing to do. She attended countless games, performances, and outings. She was her family’s biggest cheerleader.

In the final weeks of her life, Donna made it clear that she was ready to go to Heaven. She said she had so many loved ones on the other side. Donna said, “I know you will shed a tear, but then be happy because I will be up there helping kids.”

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Maureen Siebert of Sunman, Indiana, grandchildren Brookelyn (Nick) Grevenkamp of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kameron and Janae Siebert, both of Sunman.  In addition to her parents and husband Lloyd, she was preceded in death by her sister Betty Castner, brothers Bill and James Smock and nephew Todd Castner.

Visitation is Friday, September 22nd, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 23rd, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Crossroads, with Laura Nicholson, SAM officiating.  The burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Batesville.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Southeastern Indiana Voices of Children.  For online condolences, go to www.weigelfh.com.
