Donald Simpson, 91, of Rexville passed away at 3:40 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2024 at his home. He was born in Anderson, Indiana on January 24, 1933, the son of George and Addie Zachary Simpson. He was married to Martha Robertson on October 9, 1966 and she preceded him in death in October of 2012. Survivors include two daughters Amy Simpson of Rexville and Debbie (Brian) Lohorn of Anderson; three sons Darryl Simpson of Muncie, George Earl Simpson III of Versailles, and Jerry (Joy) Simpson of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, including Christopher, Donald, and Darryl Jr. whom he and Martha raised, and is also survived by several great-grandchildren; two sisters Carol Simpson of Anderson and Barbara Dicken of Albany, Kentucky. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Wayne, John, and Harold Simpson. Mr. Simpson grew up in Anderson and spent his working career at General Motors in Anderson. On April 16, 1953 he was inducted into the US Army, serving with the 581^st Engineer Field Maintenance Company. For service to his country, Donald received the National Defense Service Medal. In 1980 Donald and Martha moved to southern Ripley County in search of a quieter life away from the city. Donald was a member of the West Fork Baptist Church and was also a life-member of Am Vets post 692. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 14 at 1p.m. at the Pleasant Walk Cemetery in Anderson. Military honors will be presented by the Daleville American Legion. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
