Donald E. Starker

Donald Eugene Starker 74, of Dillsboro passed away June 9, 2018 at High Point Health in Lawrenceburg. Donald was born November 14, 1943, the son of Gerald and Leona (Mefford) Starker.  He married Patricia “Patty” (Kilburn) Starker March 5, 1966 and she survives. He served his country in the U.S. Army, US Army Reserves, both the Indiana and Kentucky National Guard, and was a Sergeant Major in the Indiana Guard Reserves 1998 to present.   Donald was a member of Northcutt Laaker Post #292, Dillsboro Civic Club and Dearborn Baptist Church.  He retired from AEP and after retirement, was  a  part time employee of the Sunman Post Office, a job his family said he loved greatly.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing baseball, coaching baseball, camping and spending time with his family.

Donald is survived by his wife: Patty Starker of Dillsboro; daughters: Kimberly (Bruce) Hunt of Dillsboro; Kelly (Doug) Barrett of Aurora; brothers: David Starker of Monticello, IN; Danny Starker of Rising Sun; sisters: Lavonne (Artie) Wilson of Independence, Ky ;   Sharon (Steve) Adams of Manchester;  4 Grandchildren: Allan and Sabrina Hunt; Alexis and Morgan Barrett.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Joan Franks.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday June 14, 2018 at Dearborn Baptist Church with Pastor Darrell Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro,   with full military honors by Northcutt Laaker Post #292. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dearborn  Baptist Church.  Memorials may be given to the Dearborn Baptist Church or the Dillsboro EMS.
