Della Rosa Allen Keck, 81, of Delaware, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at St. Andrews Health Campus.
She was born on July 11, 1935 to the late Maggie (Johnson) and Boyd Allen in London, Kentucky.
Della married Dewey Keck, Jr. on June 12, 1954 and he survives. Della and Dewey had 2 children: a son, Steven, and a daughter, Kathleen Dickman. Della was a member of the Delaware United Methodist Church. She worked as the Guidance Secretary at Jac-Cen-Del Jr./Sr. High School for 27 years. Della was a founding member of both Rescue 69 and the Delaware Volunteer Fire Department. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Dewey Keck of Osgood; her daughter, Kathleen Dickman of Osgood, granddaughter, Gina Keck of Appleton, Wisconsin, grandsons, Tyler, Derik, and Jared Dickman of Osgood; and sister, Cecelia Ratliff and brother, Johnnie Allen, both of Orlando, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Keck, her sister, Dallis Stanton, and her parents.
Della led a life of service, and in true form, per her last request, her body was donated to the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Indiana University for study in the hopes of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s/dementia.
A celebration of Della’s life will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 9:00AM at the Delaware United Methodist Church. A reception / social hour will immediately follow in the Church basement.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Delaware United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
