Born on February 23, 1955, in Greensburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Elmer J. and Luella (Haskamp) Nobbe. Dede was a 1973 graduate of Greensburg Community High School. On December 17, 1976, she married the love of her life, Richard, and together they built a loving home and raised three children: Erika, Brittany, and Jordan.
She answered to many names throughout her life. To her siblings, she was Sister. To Richard, she was Wife. To her children, she was Mom, and to her grandchildren, she was Grandma. Depending on who was calling, she might also answer to Pocket, Bob, or simply Dede—each nickname carrying its own story, memories, and the love of the people who gave it to her.
Dede retired from Delta Faucet in 2014 after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where her deep faith was reflected in her daily life. Each morning began with a devotional and time spent reading her Bible—so often that before she knew it, much of the morning had passed.
Above all else, Dede cherished her family. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother, and shared an especially close and treasured bond with her granddaughter, Kaylie. She found great joy in spending time with those she loved, whether gathered around the dinner table, relaxing on the porch swing, playing cards and games, or making memories while traveling and glamping in their RV. She especially loved the beach and would have happily spent every chance she could with her toes in the sand, soaking in the sun, and listening to the waves.
Whether it was a ball game, school event, or family gathering, Dede loved showing up for the people she loved. She was one of her family’s biggest supporters and found great joy in cheering on her children and granddaughter from the sidelines.
Dede had a sweet tooth, loved to cook, and never seemed to make a meal without leaving a wonderfully chaotic kitchen behind. She also had a knack for saving just about everything—especially paper and bags—much to the amusement of her family. She enjoyed gardening and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, leaving behind countless memories that will continue to bring smiles to those who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Richard; her children, Erika (Mike) Effing, Brittany Cuskaden, and Jordan (Shelley) Cuskaden; her beloved grandchildren, Kaylie Effing, George Cuskaden, and Harrison Cuskaden; and her siblings, Gary (Lois) Nobbe, Joan (Dale) Greiwe, Nancy Cuskaden, Tim (Kathy) Nobbe, Debbie (Don) Clarkston, Norma Nobbe, Jeanne (Mike) Daniel, Kathy Power; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer J. and Luella (Haskamp) Nobbe; her father and mother-in-law, George and Elsie Cuskaden; her brothers-in-law, Michael W. Cuskaden and George R. Cuskaden; her sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Ashley; and niece, Kista Eldridge.
