A corrections officer at the Decatur County Jail remains hospitalized following a vehicle accident early Monday morning.
According to the Greensburg Daily News, Luke Schmidt, 21, of Greensburg, remains in intensive care.
Schmidt was traveling south on Highway 421 near C.R. 200S in a pickup truck when he drifted off the roadway and hit a group of trees. The crash was reported around 12:57 a.m. Monday.
Decatur County Sheriff Greg Allen said preliminary investigations indicate Schmidt may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
Schmidt was transported to an Indianapolis hospital for head injuries.
