(Greensburg, IN) – The Decatur County Board of Zoning Appeals heard an initial presentation from Francisco Galeano with RWE Clean Energy Wednesday night.
The company wants to establish a 1,000 to 1,700 acre commercial solar farm north of Greensburg.
The final proposed acreage depends on setbacks and final design.
After Galeano’s presentation, a question-and-answer session took place.
RWE then asked for 60-90 days to prepare for the next presentation. The Chicago-based company says it wants to answer questions asked at the meeting and get solar industry professionals to answer the questions they couldn’t.
Krista Duvall with Decatur County Planning and Zoning says the county solar ordinance is pretty standard.
“We do not encourage large-scale commercial solar farms, but obviously we have something in place so that if this is the right time and place, there are guidelines for what has to be done if this is, indeed, the way we choose to go,” Duvall said.
An estimated 250 people attended the more than three-hour-long meeting.
