(Greensburg, IN) – The Decatur County Highway Department celebrated the grand opening of its new headquarters on South County Road 200 West with an open house and a ribbon cutting by the Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce (pictured) on Wednesday morning.
The 10-acre campus near the Greensburg Municipal Airport is home to several buildings, including the main office, storage for trucks and equipment, drive-through wash bays and salt storage.
The department is transitioning from its longtime headquarters on Base Road, which sit on a 3.4 acre site. Trucks and equipment had to be left outside exposed to the elements there due to a lack of storage buildings and garages.
The construction project finished under budget at $10.3 million; the initial price tag was $11 million.
