(Decatur County, IN) – The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says it’s received more reports of fraud attempts involving financial institutions.
Scammers are calling residents and attempting to verify banking information over the phone.
Deputies say the scammers have vague knowledge of certain aspects of a resident’s life, such as relatives’ or friends’ names, and try to build trust with you.
You’re urged to always call your bank to verify the request, and to never give out personal information over the phone.
