NEW POINT, IN — Decatur County REMC (DCREMC) members around Greensburg and to the south and east in Ripley and Franklin counties were in the dark Thursday following an outage at the co-op’s New Point substation.

DCREMC said its power supplier, Hoosier Energy, discovered a blown fuse on the substation transformer.
The blown fuse resulted in many members experiencing low voltage or partial power.
The entire substation was taken offline so that the problem could be corrected.

Power was restored to everyone about seven hours after the initial report.
