(Greensburg, IN) – After 47 years of dedicated service, Susie Cupp is retiring from Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH), bringing a remarkable career defined by integrity, expertise, and devotion to the community to a close.
Cupp began her career at DCMH in 1979 as a nursing administrative secretary.
Over nearly five decades, she served in several roles, including nursing administrative secretary from 1979 to 2019, executive secretary from 2019 to 2023, and administrative assistant from 2024 to 2026.
Throughout her career, Cupp remained a steady, trusted presence through changing leadership, evolving technology, new regulations, and a constantly changing health care environment.
One of Cupp’s major contributions was her expertise in implementing and managing administrative software and data systems, including contract management, policy management, timekeeping, and quality and performance reporting.
She became a go-to resource for team members navigating new technology, identifying system issues, and finding practical solutions that kept important processes moving.
Cupp also played an important role in helping DCMH leaders understand and use information to guide the organization.
She worked with departments to prepare presentations, organize performance measures, and ensure decision-makers had accurate information to evaluate what was working and identify opportunities for improvement. Cupp ultimately helped strengthen the care and service provided to patients.
Beyond her technical expertise, Cupp demonstrated DCMH’s values of integrity, quality, community, and compassion, earning the trust and respect of colleagues across the organization. Cupp also became a trusted source of institutional knowledge.
Her willingness to share what she knew and find answers when she didn’t have them made her a valuable resource to generations of DCMH employees.
“Susie’s impact on DCMH is truly remarkable,” said Rex McKinney, DCMH President and CEO. “Her knowledge, patience, and commitment to doing things the right way have made a lasting difference for our organization and the people we serve. We are sincerely grateful for the 47 years she has given to DCMH and our community.”
