(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Commissioners discussed the proposed renovation of the Annex at this week’s meeting.
The 1950s era building at 315 S. Ireland Street in Greensburg, was once the site of Washington Elementary School; it houses several county offices, including Dispatch, the Emergency Management Agency (EMA), the Coroner’s Office and the Health Department, among others.
Commissioners issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) earlier this year, with the lone response by the deadline coming from SD Barnes Construction.
Their proposal was for exterior renovation and general reconditioning of the entire building at an estimated price tag of $1,396,617.
Alternative options included $331,628 to replace ceiling tiles and the supporting grid system, plus $81,000 to renovate the EMA Training Room.
Financing options include bonds, loans and using available cash reserves.
Commissioner Brian Wenning will bring the proposal to Decatur County Council for review and possible approval at their next meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17 at 9 a.m.
