David Harold Decker, age 81 of Batesville, IN passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home. The son of Howard and Mary (nee: Voegele) Decker was born on May 17, 1936 in Batesville, he was one of 8 children.
The 1954 Batesville High School graduate was a US Army Cold War Veteran. He worked at Union Furniture for many years as a finisher before he went to work for the city with the Batesville Parks and Recreation Department. David loved all types of sports. He especially enjoyed playing baseball throughout the years, for Tri County Baseball league, the Legion Baseball teams and even while he was in the Army. David was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, a member of the Batesville American Legion, Post #271 and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1461.
He is survived by his son Deron H. Decker of Batesville and daughter, Heidi D. Decker of Encino, CA; grandson, Derek Decker and great grandson Brayden Klidinst. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers.
